Position Summary
The Primary Care Land Ambulance Program at Ornge has quickly become a core component of Ornge’s Mission to overcome time and distance when it matters most. Paramedics in the PCLA Program will support patients in the care of critical and advanced care paramedic crews by ensuring they get to the care they need. Ensuring PCLA readiness is essential, and paramedics in the program will be responsible and accountable for ensuring their assets are in a constant state of readiness.

Qualifications:
- Current Primary Care Paramedic certification in good standing with a provincial Base Hospital.
- Minimum 1-2 years’ experience as a fully certified Primary Care Paramedic.
- Meets qualifications and conditions outlined in the Ambulance Act/Ontario Regulations 257/00: MOH Advanced Emergency Medical Care Assistant (AEMCA) certificate, valid F Class (or higher) Driver’s License with satisfactory Driver Abstract, valid CPR for Healthcare Professionals and/or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), valid immunizations and confirmation of freedom from communicable disease as outlined in MOH Ambulance Service Communicable Disease Standards, proof of Completion of Ornge Aeromedical Theory Program; and MOH Aeromedical Theory Certificate (considered an asset).
- Completion of a Vulnerable Sector Screening process with a satisfactory result prior to or within 90 days of commencement of employment.
Hours and Location of Work:
- Paramedics are required to work various shifts, including day and night shifts and weekends in a 24/7 environment, including days, afternoons and nights on weekdays, weekends, and statutory holidays.
- During the course of their shift duties, Paramedics may be required to overnight away from their home base.
- Successful candidates must live near or be willing to relocate to the assigned base area.
- Paramedics are required to use respiratory protective equipment and they shall co-operate in attaining an effective fit of the equipment and in particular, be clean shaven to ensure an effective facial seal to provide for the health and safety of all employees.
