Grand River Personnel is recruiting for a Press Set-Up Technician in Waterloo, ON. This is a TEMP-to-PERM role offering night shift starting after a day-shift training period.

You will set up presses, moulds, and tooling for production, perform changeovers, and ensure quality through inspections. Candidates should have 2+ years in manufacturing with strong mechanical skills and a focus on safety.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of hands-on manufacturing experience in press operation and set-ups.
• Experience with press, mould or tooling changeovers.
• Ability to read blueprints/engineering drawings and use precision measuring tools.

Responsibilities

• Set up presses, moulds and tooling for production runs.
• Complete tooling and mould changeovers efficiently and safely.
• Clean and prepare presses, moulds, tooling and water lines between jobs.
• Install and remove moulds and tooling as required.
• Produce first-off samples and collaborate with Quality Control for approval.
• Perform in-process quality inspections using precision measuring tools.
• Read blueprints and production documentation.
• Identify defects and troubleshoot production issues while maintaining quality.
• Coordinate changeovers with Material Handlers to keep production moving.
• Tag, protect and store tooling after production.
• Support continuous improvement and maintain a clean, safe workspace.

On behalf of our client, Grand River Personnel is looking for an experienced Press Set-Up Technician to join a busy manufacturing team in Waterloo for a current vacancy. This is a TEMP-to-PERM role offering great perks and benefits upon hire!

If you have hands-on experience with press operation, tooling changeovers, metal fabrication, plastics, or injection moulding, this could be a great opportunity to put your skills to work in a role where precision, quality and efficiency matter.

This is NOT an entry-level machine operator position. We are looking for someone who already understands manufacturing equipment, tooling and set-ups and can hit the ground running.

THE DETAILS

• $22.70/hour
• Full-time, ongoing opportunity
• Night shift: Monday–Thursday, 11:00 PM–9:00 AM
• 2 weeks of day-shift training required before moving to nights
• Not open to students

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Set up presses, moulds and tooling for production runs
• Complete tooling and mould changeovers efficiently and safely

• Properly tag, protect and store tooling after production
• Support continuous improvement and a clean, safe and organized work area

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

• 2+ years of hands-on manufacturing experience in press operation, machine set-up, metal fabrication, injection moulding or a similar environment
• Proven experience with press, mould or tooling changeovers
• Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of manufacturing equipment
• Experience with precision measuring tools, including Vernier calipers and gaugesAbility to read and interpret blueprints/engineering drawings
• Strong eye for quality and ability to identify and address defects
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
• Reliable attendance and a strong commitment to safety
• Ability to work independently while keeping production moving
• Overhead crane experience is an asset
• Basic Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills
• CSA-approved footwear required
