Blue Mountain Plastics Inc. is currently looking for one (1) Press Operator – Blown Film, (NOC 73401 – Printing press operators) to join our team. You will be working at our Blue Mountain Plastics Extrusion facility, located at 485387 30 Side Rd, Shelburne, ON L9V 3N5.
This is a permanent, full‑time position, based on 88 hours of work per 2‑week cycle, with occasional overtime. At this time, we are only looking for individuals who can work a 12‑hour rotating continental shift, including nights and weekends.

Position Summary

The Press Operator – Blown Film (BMPE) plays a critical role in our manufacturing process. This role is responsible for the efficient operation and maintenance of blown film press equipment used to produce high‑quality plastic film products. You will set up and monitor machines, adjust settings, ensure product quality, and troubleshoot production issues to keep everything running safely and efficiently.
This position requires technical knowledge, mechanical aptitude, and a strong commitment to safety and quality.

Duties include the following:
  • Set up and operate blown film press machinery based on production specifications.
  • Adjust machine settings (temperature, speed, pressure) to ensure optimal film quality.
  • Conduct regular quality inspections and make corrective adjustments as needed.
  • Load raw materials and ensure continuous supply throughout production.
  • Identify and resolve mechanical and operational issues in real time.
  • Monitor and optimize production efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Follow all safety protocols and report any safety concerns immediately.
  • Perform daily and routine equipment cleaning and maintenance.
  • Keep accurate records of production activities, machine performance, and downtime.
  • Collaborate with team members, quality control, and supervisors to achieve goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

We are looking for candidates who meets the following minimum requirements:

  • Completion of high school required.
  • Some post‑secondary education required as the position requires the ability to read and understand technical instructions.
  • 5 years of previous experience as a press operator in plastic film production is required.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy materials and operate machinery.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work 12‑hour rotating shifts, including nights and weekends.
Compensation:

We offer a generous compensation package, which includes:

  • Starting wage of $32.89 per hour based on experience, less applicable statutory deductions and withholdings.
  • Employees are eligible to earn a Line Efficiency (LEF) Bonus upon achieving a series of criteria as outlined in the LEF Bonus Program. Details of this program are subject to change.
  • Operators can earn an additional $0.50 – $1.50/hour when the LEF target is achieved
  • Overtime will be paid at 1.5 time your regular hourly rate, after 88 hours worked in a 2‑week work cycle.
  • 10 days of paid vacation per year

  • Inbound transportation costs for out of province applicants
  • Private health care insurance coverage for out of province applicants (equal to the Ontario provincial health insurance plan) until such a time that the applicant is eligible for Ontario provincial health insurance

Working Environment and Physical Demands:
  • Shift‑work, including at night and on weekends required.
  • Frequent lifting and carrying of materials, products, and goods up to 50 pounds or more.
  • Standing and walking for extended periods on hard surfaces.
  • Regular bending, stooping, and reaching to handle equipment and materials.
  • Using manual dexterity for operating machinery controls, tools, and computer systems.
  • Good visual and auditory acuity to monitor equipment and detect malfunctions.
  • Operating forklifts and machinery requires coordination, balance, and adherence to safety protocols.
  • PPE use.
