Job description

President – Industrial Construction
Preferred location: Calgary, Alberta, Canada

Employ Global is recruiting a President on behalf of an established, privately owned industrial construction and fabrication business operating across Western Canada.

The owners are seeking a commercially driven leader to take the business through its next stage of growth. This is an opportunity to lead an established company, strengthen its market position and build long-term business performance.

The opportunity

You will take responsibility for the company's commercial, operational and financial performance, combining strong customer relationships with the ability to win and deliver profitable work.

The business delivers industrial construction and fabrication services, including facility construction, pipe and structural fabrication, module assembly, mechanical services, and electrical and instrumentation work.

The successful candidate will bring an entrepreneurial mindset, established industry relationships and the leadership skills to grow the business while maintaining safe, reliable project delivery.

What you will do
  • Build a strong understanding of the business, its customers, employees and operational capabilities.
  • Develop and execute a growth plan that builds profitable revenue, sustainable earnings and quality backlog.
  • Use established Alberta and Canadian construction relationships to create new opportunities and expand existing accounts.
  • Lead commercial strategy, opportunity selection, bidding and customer negotiations.
  • Take responsibility for overall profit and loss performance, project margins, cash flow and working capital.
  • Oversee safe, reliable project delivery and strengthen operational accountability.
  • Develop the management team and build lasting customer relationships.
  • Improve reporting, forecasting and business processes to support growth.
  • Work closely with the owners to set priorities, monitor results and deliver the company's strategic objectives.
What you will bring
  • Senior leadership experience in construction, preferably industrial contracting, energy construction, fabrication, mechanical services or a related sector.
  • Strong knowledge of the Alberta construction market and relevant customer relationships. Equivalent international experience will be considered alongside demonstrated understanding of the market.
  • A proven record of personally winning business and delivering it profitably.
  • Established customer and industry relationships, with a credible ability to generate new work.
  • Experience managing a business or division with substantial profit and loss responsibility.
  • Strong commercial judgment and an understanding of estimating, contract risk, project delivery, margins and cash collection.
  • The ability to lead people, develop managers and maintain a strong safety culture.
  • An entrepreneurial approach supported by financial discipline and practical decision-making.

We welcome applications from established Presidents, General Managers and divisional or regional Vice Presidents ready to step into a President role.

Compensation and incentives

The anticipated package includes:

  • Competitive executive base salary, reflecting experience and demonstrated commercial contribution.
  • Performance-related annual bonus linked to agreed business objectives.
  • Vehicle or allowance, health benefits and retirement contribution.

The compensation package will be discussed confidentially with shortlisted candidates.

Location

The preferred location is Calgary, Alberta, with regular travel to company facilities, customer meetings and project sites.

Candidates elsewhere in Canada who have strong Alberta industry relationships and are willing to travel are encouraged to apply. Location and travel requirements will be discussed with candidates, including any accommodation needs.
