Job summary

BUILD IT Calgary is seeking a full-time, on-site Project Manager to oversee construction projects, manage budgets, ensure safety, and drive project controls.

The role requires 5-7 years supervisory experience in commercial construction, proficiency with Procore and MS Project, strong communication, and the ability to coordinate diverse teams.

Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of supervisory experience in project control for commercial construction.
  • Post-secondary education in Project Management, Construction Management, or related field; PMP or BCIN is an asset.
  • Solid understanding of construction financials and cost management.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction safety regulations and practices.
  • Experience in construction management with Procore and MS Project; ability to lead diverse teams.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with clients, stakeholders, and teams.
  • Knowledge of local building codes, permitting processes, and compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Project Management: Plan, execute, and oversee construction projects to meet scope, schedule, and client specifications.
  • Budget Control: Monitor and manage project budgets with accurate cost reporting and accountability.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and site teams; conduct team meetings.
  • Safety Oversight: Enforce safety protocols to maintain compliance and a safe work environment.
  • Quality Assurance: Inspect sites to ensure high-quality standards and client expectations.
  • Client Communication: Build and maintain strong client relationships with timely updates and issue resolution.
  • Risk Mitigation: Identify risks early and implement solutions to keep projects on track.
  • Permitting & Compliance: Secure necessary permits and ensure alignment with local codes.
  • Documentation Management: Use Procore to track project data, reports, RFIs, and approvals.
  • Mentorship & Strategic Planning: Train coordination teams, contribute to KPI development.

Role Description

We are currently seeking a full-time, on-site Project Manager at BUILD IT Calgary. The Project Manager will oversee the execution and management of construction projects, ensuring that budgets are managed, safety standards are met, and all project control activities are efficiently executed.

Qualifications
  • 5-7 years of supervisory experience in project control, including scheduling, budgeting, and invoicing in commercial construction, including restaurant, hospitality, and retail sectors
  • Post-secondary education in Project Management, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred; additional certifications such as PMP or BCIN are an asset
  • Solid understanding of construction financials and cost management
  • In-depth knowledge of construction safety regulations and practices
  • Experience in construction management with proficiency in Procore and MS Project, and ability to lead diverse teams
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with clients, stakeholders, and teams
  • Knowledge of local building codes, permitting processes, and compliance requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to efficiently manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
  • Comfortable with regular on-site visits and standard construction-site PPE requirements
