Preconstruction Project Manager, ICI, Edmonton - Permanent - 4329

About the Opportunity

Every project manager has inherited a job that was won on a number nobody could build to. This role exists so the Edmonton operation of a large Canadian general contractor stops handing those jobs to its site teams. You’ll sit between the pursuit and the field, working with owners and designers while the project can still change, and you’ll hand operations a budget and schedule you’d be willing to run yourself.

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Take assigned ICI projects from early design through to a contract price, whether that’s a GMP, stipulated sum, or negotiated deal
• Work directly with owners, architects, and engineers while design decisions are still open, and show them what each decision costs
• Bring the field into precon early, with constructability, sequencing, and site logistics worked out before the job is priced, not after
• Pull together estimating, trade pricing, and scope packages into one number you can stand behind
• Hand over to operations in person, with the budget, schedule, risks, and assumptions laid out so nothing gets lost

About You

The successful candidate will have the following:

• You’ve run ICI projects or estimated them, and you’ve seen firsthand what a bad handover costs on site
• You can explain to an owner why their budget moved without losing their trust or the job
• You know the Edmonton trade market well enough to tell a real bid from a placeholder
• You’d rather fix a problem on paper in design than chase it through change orders in the field
• You’re a PM who wants to work further upstream, or a senior estimator ready to own the owner relationship
