Job summary

PTW Energy Services in Canada requires a Saw Operator to prepare structural steel by setting up and operating Bandsaw machines in the welding shop. You will select blades, set speeds, and ensure precise cuts according to specifications.

You will verify dimensions, maintain housekeeping, follow health and safety rules, and perform other duties as assigned by supervision. Training and development opportunities and overtime are available.

Responsibilities

• Sets up and operates power saws to cut, slot, groove, miter, and trim workpieces according to specifications.
• Select and installs blade on machine, using handtools.
• Sets controls to adjust speed, feed rate, and blade tensions.
• Positions guides, stops, holding blocks, or other fixtures to secure and direct workpiece, using handtools and measuring devices.
• Scribes reference lines on material as guide for sawing operations, according to specifications.
• Mounts workpiece in holding device, manually or using hoist.
• Operates saw to cut along scribed lines.
• Verifies dimensions of finished workpiece, using measuring devices.
• Ensure housekeeping is completed on a daily basis in assigned area
• Comply with standards and procedures of the PTW health and safety manual and Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
• Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor or shop foreman.
