Job summary

Russel Metals in Winnipeg, MB seeks a reliable Material Handler / Saw Operator for its structural steel fabrication operation. The role involves safely handling, moving, staging, and loading structural beams, and operating band saws to cut to specified lengths.

You will work outdoors around heavy materials, forklifts, cranes, and cutting equipment, with training provided for saws. Prior metal fabrication or manufacturing experience is preferred, and a strong commitment to safety is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in metal fabrication or manufacturing environment is an asset.
• Ability to read work orders and interpret measurements accurately.
• Strong commitment to workplace safety and quality.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate overhead cranes, forklifts and other material-handling equipment.
• Receive, move, stage, and organize structural steel beams and materials.
• Load and unload trucks; secure materials for transport.
• Operate structural steel band saws and verify dimensions and cut lengths.
• Read work orders, material lists, drawings and measurements.
• Maintain organized beam yard and complete production documentation.
