Job summary

PTW Energy Services in Calgary, Alberta is seeking a Saw Operator to prepare structural steel by setting up and operating Bandsaw machines in the welding shop.

You will cut, slot, groove and trim workpieces to specifications, install blades, adjust speed and tension, and verify finished dimensions with precision tools.

The role emphasizes strict safety, housekeeping, and teamwork in a supportive, growth‑oriented trades environment with training opportunities.

Qualifications

• Must understand production procedures.
• Adherence to health and safety regulations, including PPE.
• Strong attention to detail and safety awareness.
• Teamwork and effective communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate power saws to cut and trim workpieces per specifications.
• Install blades and adjust speed, feed rate, and blade tension.
• Position guides and fixtures to secure the workpiece using handtools and measuring devices.
• Mark reference lines on material as guides for sawing operations.
• Mount and operate holding devices and hoists as required.
• Verify finished dimensions with measuring devices.
• Maintain daily housekeeping in the work area.
• Follow PTW health and safety manual and OH&S regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
