Job summary

Easton’s Group is seeking a Pre-Opening Hotel Food and Beverage Supervisor for Hilton Garden Inn Vaughan Toronto in Vaughan, ON. The role supports the opening team, assists in managing food & beverage outlets, and ensures service standards and profitability from day one.

The position is full-time, on-site, with a salary range of CAD 48,000 to CAD 55,000 annually. The candidate should have at least one year of food service experience and good leadership skills to build a high-performing

• High school diploma or equivalent and one year of food service experience.
• Some college or supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Train and schedule employees to ensure proper coverage.
• Respond promptly and professionally to guest requests and complaints; provide service recovery as per guidelines.
• Ensure good presentation of buffet and kitchen dishes.
• Supervise restaurant, bar and room service operations for smooth service.
• Inspect the restaurant daily for quality, presentation and cleanliness.
• Conduct pre-shift meetings and review daily specials.
• Ensure side work and table settings before, during and after operating hours.
• Promote teamwork and coordinate with other departments.
• May greet guests, serve food, take reservations and maintain the bookings.
• Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to policies.
• Assist the banquet department as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

JOB OVERVIEW:

Assists in the management of the food and beverage outlet to ensure that quality and service standards are met and maximize food and beverage profits.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

• Train and schedule employees to ensure proper coverage. Monitor performance and recommend corrective action. Alert management of potentially serious issues.
• Respond promptly and professionally to guest requests and complaints. Make appropriate service recovery gestures according to established guidelines to ensure total guest satisfaction.
• Ensures food on the buffet or the from the kitchen has a good presentation.
• Supervises activity in outlets including restaurant, bar, and room service to ensure smooth operation and guest satisfaction.
• Inspect the restaurant daily to ensure high-quality food and food presentation and cleanliness.
• Conduct pre-shift meetings to inform staff of daily events. Review daily specials.
• Ensure side work duties are complete and tables are set before, during and after operating hours.
• Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments.
• May routinely greet guests, serve food and beverage, take reservations, and maintain reservations book if applicable.
• Always provides a professional image through appearance and dress.
• Follows company policies and procedures.
• Assist the banquet department as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum: High school diploma or equivalent and one year of food service experience in a full-service restaurant or similar setting. Some college or supervisory experience is preferred.

This job requires ability to perform the following Physical Demands

• Carrying or lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds
• Remain stationary for extended periods
• Moving about the outlet(s)
• Handling food objects and products

Other:

• Communication skills are utilized a significant amount of time when interacting with employees.
• Reading and writing abilities are utilized often when compiling departmental paperwork.
• Basic math skills are used frequently.
• Problem-solving, reasoning, motivating, and training abilities are often used.
• May be required to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays.

HEALTH AND SAFETY:

Because safety is a management responsibility, department managers are held directly accountable for safe work practices and control of physical hazards in their areas.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Detect and eliminate, or report for correction, all physical hazards, and unsafe conditions immediately by completing a safety work order. Perform random checks monthly and report deficiencies to the appropriate personnel.
• Re-instruct all regular employees who develop unsafe work practices as soon as possible after such practices are observed.
• Ensure that all employees use or wear any equipment, protective devices or clothing required under the Health & Safety Program.
• Investigate all employee accidents thoroughly and immediately. Get the facts from the injured worker and witnesses and fill out necessary accident report forms promptly and completely. These forms should then be submitted to Human Resources for processing. Follow the accident investigation procedures included in this manual.
• Insist on immediate first aid for all employee injuries where applicable. Maintain department first aid stations.
• Actively cooperate with the Health and Safety Committee. Ensure a competent and interested department representative is at all committee meetings.
• Insist on good housekeeping and enforce the “Clean as You Go” policy.
• Maintain active involvement in the accomplishment of the accident prevention and reduction objective assigned to the department. Take every precaution reasonable in the circumstances for the protection of employees.
• Review and be aware of all sections of the Health and Safety Manual.
