Under the supervision of the Pre-Construction Director, the Pre-Construction Manager is responsible for managing civil, mechanical, and structural engineering for wind and solar projects in Canada. The role involves participating in the preparation phase of construction projects, managing procurement of major equipment, and overseeing civil design supply.

- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or relevant experience
- 3+ years of experience in civil construction
- Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize information
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Team player with experience working with remote teams
- Availability for occasional travel within Canada
What you will do to complete this mission successfully :
GENERAL
- Manage design consultants to ensure effective and timely design that meets budget and schedule requirements
- Ensure project engineering aligns with contractual documents and requirements
- Support estimation team in selecting design solutions and estimating scope
- Lead RFP processes for key items within scope and provide technical support during RFP
- Review site-related documents to assess construction feasibility and design solutions
- Manage pre-construction testing for design optimization
- Assess testing scope and provide cost estimates
- Communicate design and construction plans to the execution team
- Provide technical advisory support during construction
TECHNICAL
- Layout: Collaborate with clients and internal engineers to develop and lock layout designs
- Civil: Partner with external EOR to design access roads, grading, and SWMP to IFC standards
- Procure fencing
- Piles: Partner with external EOR for pile design, testing, and procurement
- Racking: Conduct RFP with tracker manufacturers, procure system post-layout approval, and manage contracts
- Electrical – PV Plant: Coordinate with internal electrical engineers for design and procurement of components
- Electrical – Substation: Oversee design, procurement, and construction of substation components
- Substation Civil & Foundation: Obtain IFC/IFP designs and procure pile foundations
- Contractual: Review and negotiate exhibits with the client, with main contract negotiations led by the Vice-President and legal team
- Maintain project schedules using Microsoft Project
- Facilitate transition from estimation to construction for smooth project startup
