Description
The Assistant Construction Manager will assist the Construction Project Manager, Project Manager, Site Manager, and/or the Engineer Procure Construct (EPC) Project Manager or Program Manager with day-to-day management of project safety, quality, schedule, cost control, contracts, subcontractors, suppliers, procurement, proposals, estimates, documentation, turnover, client interface, field-based activities, and other duties required to execute EPC projects, construction management, and program management ventures. This position will work on diverse projects including manufacturing, power generation, process, and water.
- Adhere to company's safety programs, training, and policies, and collaborate with the project team to manage Safety & Health performance.
- Build client relationships by interfacing with clients for proposals and project-related items.
- Assist in developing project risk reviews and consult with the Legal Department as needed.
- Coordinate and assist in developing and implementing the Project Execution Plan, Quality Assurance Plan, Safety & Health Plan, and other key project plans.
- Contribute to negotiating and executing contracts, change orders, and purchase agreements.
- Develop project plans for site mobilization/demobilization and support their implementation.
- Secure necessary project permits.
- Support bidder registration, pre-qualification, and RFP processes.
- Assist with project specifications, drawing releases, design changes, and downstream contract administration.
- Support project cost reporting, scheduling, and progress tracking.
- Report project status, risks, schedule, costs, and cash flows to stakeholders, and develop meeting minutes.
- Support invoicing processes and maintain project documentation systems.
- Verify insurance, licensures, taxes, and securities compliance.
- Support safety, quality, progress, and financial audits and assessments.
- Facilitate material management, inventory control, and project turnover documentation.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures across all activities.
- Assist in developing project labor agreements and onboarding field supervision.
- Analyze labor and equipment costs, and work with HR to staff projects appropriately.
- Monitor labor burdens, craft classifications, and training standards.
- Estimate and manage craft installation rates, production, and change management to meet cost and schedule metrics.
- Manage construction equipment inventory.
- Perform other duties as assigned and ensure adherence to all policies and standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in construction, engineering, or related field, with 3 years of relevant experience (or applicable experience in lieu of degree).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with project management software is preferred.
- Strong communication, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in industries such as aviation, commercial, energy, government, manufacturing, oil & gas, process, transmission & distribution, transportation, or water is preferred.
- Understanding of GAAP principles.
- Ability to meet driving requirements of the company.
