Job summary

Oakville Hydro is seeking a Journeyperson Powerline Technician to join our team in Oakville. This role contributes to construction, maintenance, restoration, and operation of overhead and underground distribution systems to keep the community powered.

As a certified journeyperson with Ontario licenses, you’ll work in a safety-first environment, handle outages, troubleshoot faults, and mentor apprentices while supporting municipal growth and service excellence.

Qualifications

• Certified Journeyperson Powerline Technician with Ontario licencing.
• Knowledge of IHSA Safe Work Practices and Electrical Utility Safety Rules.
• Valid Ontario Class AZ licence, or G licence with DZ/AZ within timelines.

Responsibilities

• Build, maintain, and repair overhead energized primary and secondary distribution systems.
• Troubleshoot overhead/underground faults using maps and diagnostics.
• Respond to outages, standby shifts, and callouts as required.
• Support development and mentoring of Apprentices Powerline Technicians.
