Job summary

Vale Base Metals, a global supplier of critical minerals, seeks a Powerline Technician to join the Power Department in Sudbury, Ontario. This is a permanent on-site role with Monday to Friday steady days; relocation is required.

You will be responsible for the transmission and distribution of high‑voltage power to Vale mines and plants, performing installation, inspection, maintenance and repairs, and responding to emergencies while following safety policies.

Qualifications

  • Fully licensed journeyperson with Powerline Technician Red Seal (434A) is required.
  • Minimum grade 12 or GED is required.
  • Minimum 3 years of industrial experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of EUSA Safety rules, OHSA, and Ontario Electrical Safety Code required.

Responsibilities

  • Install, dismantle, construct, calibrate, inspect, maintain, adjust, modify, repair, and test power transmission and distribution lines and related equipment.
  • Operate and maintain plant equipment and auxiliaries safely and efficiently.
  • Follow Health, Safety and Environment policies and procedures.
  • Respond to emergency situations as required.
  • Document work performed.
  • Align with work safety policies and safety regulations.

The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Powerline Technician to join our Power Department team in Sudbury, Ontario. Relocation will be required for this role. This is a permanent on‑site position working Monday to Friday, steady days. This posting is for an existing position vacancy. As a Powerline Technician, you will be responsible for the transmission and distribution of high‑voltage power to all Vale owned mines and plants. Your experience and skills will contribute to scheduled or emergency repairs, installation, inspection, and preventative maintenance work.

Additionally, in this position you will:

  • Install, dismantle, construct, calibrate, inspect, maintain, adjust, modify, repair, and test power transmission and distribution lines, substations, transformers, communication circuits, and related equipment in plant and inter-plant maintenance and construction.
  • Operate and maintain plant equipment and auxiliaries safely and efficiently.
  • Follow established company Health, Safety, and Environment policies and procedures.
  • Respond to emergency situations as required.
  • Report deviations to established procedures.
  • Document work performed.
  • Align with work safety policies and safety regulations.

About You

Education:

  • Fully Licensed Journeyperson: Trade Certification - Powerline Technician Red Seal (434A) is required.
  • Minimum grade 12 completed or GED is required.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of industrial experience is preferred.

Skills:

  • Knowledge of EUSA Safety rules, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Ontario Electrical Safety Code and all other applicable legislation required.
