Job summary

A global supplier of critical minerals is seeking a Welder Fitter to join the Maintenance Department at Stobie Open Pit in Sudbury, Ontario. The ideal candidate will have a Trade Certification in Metal Fabricator/Plate worker and a minimum of 4 years of experience. Responsibilities include all aspects of metal fabrication and welding, aligning with safety regulations. This is a permanent, on-site role with a starting hourly rate of $45.582. Relocation assistance is provided.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all metal fabrication, welding including pressure welding.
  • Lay out, fabricate, assemble, install, dismantle, modify and repair steel.
  • Align with work safety policies and safety regulations.

Skills

Experience with oxy-fuel and plasma arc cutting
Knowledge of welding codes and standards
Experience with rigging and material handling
Knowledge of specific welding hazards
Experience with metal working equipment
Ability to interpret shop drawings

Education

Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Welder Fitter to join our Maintenance Department team at Stobie Open Pit in Sudbury, Ontario. Relocation will be required for this role. This is a permanent on-site position working shift and supporting a 24-hour operation. This posting is for an existing position vacancy.

As a Welder Fitter, you will be responsible for all metal fabrication, metal welding, including pressure welding; brazing, cutting, and gouging. Additionally, in this position you will:

  • Read and interpret structural steel drawings, and pipe and pressure vessel drawings.
  • Lay out, fabricate, assemble, install, dismantle, modify and repair plate and structural steel, plant and mine equipment.
  • Align with work safety policies and safety regulations.
  • The primary workplace is Stobie Open Pit and work will be performed outside for the majority of the time.

About You
Fully Licensed Journeyperson
  • Trade Certification in Metal Fabricator/Plate worker (437A Red Seal) is required and CWB Certified.
Experience
  • Minimum 4 years of progressive industrial experience is preferred.
Skills
  • Experience with oxy-fuel and plasma arc cutting.
  • Knowledge of welding codes, and standards.
  • Experience with rigging, and material handling.
  • Knowledge of specific welding hazards to protect self and others is required.
  • Experience with metal working equipment (shear, brake press, rolls, radial drill, and power saws).
  • Ability to interpret and work off shop drawings in custom fabrication environment.
