Job summary

Nova Scotia Power is seeking two Auxiliary Power Engineers (Term) to join the Power Production team at Point Aconi Generating Station. You will oversee safe operation of high‑pressure boiler turbines and related equipment, reporting to the Shift Supervisor, with on-site duties and a term end date of 2027-06-29.

Candidates must hold a 2nd Class Power Engineer Certificate with at least three years’ experience, show strong problem solving, team skills, and be able to work under ISO 14001

Qualifications

• Requires 2nd Class Power Engineer Certificate and a minimum of three years’ experience in a generating station or similar.
• Demonstrated color vision for operation of control monitoring equipment.
• Proven problem-resolution skills with the ability to adapt to rescheduled assignments.
• Strong team player with interpersonal skills and good computer aptitude.
• If no qualified candidates apply, a 3rd Class Certificate holder or final-year student may be considered for Apprenticeship.
• Apprentices must complete all steps to obtain the 2nd Class Certificate within a defined time frame.

Responsibilities

• Oversee safe, cost-efficient operation of the high‑pressure boiler turbine units and auxiliary equipment.
• Comply with Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations; support ISO 14001 initiatives.
• Possibly be assigned to other locations and travel within the province.
• Ensure NSPI compliance with NERC/NPCC reliability standards for Power Production.
• Respond to call-outs and maintain readiness within 60 minutes of residence to HQ.
