Nova Scotia Power is seeking a Leading Power Engineer for the Point Tupper Generating Station in Point Tupper, NS. The role directs safe, cost-efficient operation of a high-pressure boiler turbine unit and related equipment.

You will guide the Operations Team, train engineers, and cover shifts as needed while advancing safety and environmental performance, with travel across the province and a focus on continuous improvement.

Qualifikationen

• A valid Power Engineer Certificate, preferably 1st Class, although candidates who possess a 2nd Class ticket may also be considered and a minimum of five (5) years experience as a Power Engineer in a generating station or industry with similar processes are required.
• You will be required to demonstrate acceptable color vision for operation of control monitoring equipment.
• You have proven problem resolution skills and the flexibility and ability to adapt to rescheduled assignments.
• You must be a strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills, a strong computer aptitude and the ability to deal with multiple tasks and demands. Leadership skills, self-motivation and demonstrated ability to work independently are essential.

Aufgaben

• Direct and perform safe, cost-efficient operation of the high-pressure boiler turbine unit and all related equipment.
• Coordinate shift communications and assist training and development of Power Engineers; may replace the Operations Shift Supervisor for shift coverage.
• Work as a team member in planned work environments and participate in competency-based and regulatory training.
• Support travel within the province and assist in leading a skilled work group, including acting duties for the supervisor when needed.
• Promote safety, environmental awareness, teamwork, and work efficiency; contribute to work planning and continuous improvement programs.
