Job summary

Sodexo is seeking a 2nd Class Chief Power Plant Engineer in Nova Scotia to lead the central heating and refrigeration plants and related distribution systems. You will manage operations, maintenance, energy initiatives, regulatory compliance, and a skilled operating team to ensure reliable campus utility services.

The role requires a 2nd Class Power Engineer's certificate and 5+ years of relevant experience, with strong leadership, budgeting, and safety focus.

Qualifications

• 2nd Class Power Engineer’s Certificate of Qualification required.
• Progressive experience with central heating and refrigeration plants.
• Experience supervising in a unionized environment is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of energy management and regulatory compliance.
• Proven ability to manage budgets, reports, and capital planning.

Responsibilities

• Lead safe, efficient operation of central heating and refrigeration plants and utilities.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and Sodexo standards are met.
• Supervise CHP Operators and Maintenance Relief Operators.
• Develop SOPs, risk assessments, and preventive maintenance programs.
• Monitor plant performance, energy use, and efficiency initiatives.
• Prepare monthly operation reports and manage budgets and forecasts.
• Coordinate contractors, vendors, and service providers.
• Promote safety and continuous improvement across the team.
