The Ministry of Forestry and Parks in Edmonton seeks a Power Generation and Mechanical Specialist to oversee critical diesel and gas generator systems, provide expert diagnostics, and lead asset-management initiatives in remote environments.

You will design and implement maintenance plans, evaluate contractor proposals, and ensure safety, reliability, and cost-effective operations across Alberta’s Forestry Division infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Minimum two-year technical diploma in a related field with six years of related experience, or equivalent.
• Experience with power generation systems supporting critical infrastructure or public services.
• Knowledge of lifecycle asset management, capital planning, and equipment replacement strategies.
• Familiarity with safety regulations, environmental requirements, and occupational health and safety standards.

Responsabilités

• Conduct diagnostics, overhauls, and repairs on diesel, LPG, natural gas, and gasoline generator systems.
• Respond to emergencies and restore critical operations through troubleshooting.
• Perform load bank testing, fuel system calibrations, inspections, and readiness assessments.
• Develop site procedures and operating guidelines for remote environments.
• Provide contract oversight and evaluate vendor performance to ensure SLAs.
