Job summary

Interior Health in Williams Lake, BC is seeking a permanent part-time Power Engineer 5 / Maintenance Worker V to operate and maintain the hospital's power plant and related systems on a rotating 12-hour shift.

You will perform preventative maintenance and repairs to journeyman level in electrical, plumbing and painting, supervise Maintenance Workers, and help ensure a safe, efficient, well‑maintained facility for patients, staff and visitors.

Qualifications

• Grade 10 education with four years of related experience or equivalent.
• BC 5th Class Power Engineer certification with Boiler Endorsement.
• Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain the power/low-pressure steam plant for boilers and related systems.
• Perform preventative maintenance, repairs and trades duties to journeyman level (electrical, plumbing, painting).
• Supervise Maintenance Workers and designated staff to ensure a safe, efficient facility.

Position Summary

We are seeking a permanent part-time (0.65FTE) Power Engineer 5 / Maintenance Worker V to join our Plant Services team in Williams Lake, BC. This position works rotating 12hour shifts from 06:00 to 18:00 and 18:00 to 06:00.

Cariboo Memorial Hospital (CMH) is a community hospital within Interior Health and plays an important role in meeting the healthcare needs of the people in the Williams Lake and surrounding areas. Plant Services as a whole provides services and support for the safety and comfort of patients, staff, and visitors by maintaining the physical environment, grounds and systems.

Your Role

As a Power Engineer 5| Maintenance Worker V, you will be instrumental in operating and maintaining the power plant or low-pressure steam plant to ensure optimal functionality of boilers, air conditioning units, emergency power systems, and related equipment. Your responsibilities will include performing preventative maintenance, repairs, and trades duties approaching the journeyman level in areas such as electrical, plumbing, and painting, all while adhering to applicable codes and regulations. Additionally, you will supervise Maintenance Workers and other designated staff, contributing to a safe, efficient, and well-maintained facility environment.
