Job summary

Cascades in Winnipeg is seeking a Power Engineer 3rd class to operate and maintain boiler and utility equipment on the factory floor, ensuring safety and MB regulations.

The role includes monitoring starch batches, performing preventive maintenance, and collaborating with production and maintenance teams to minimize downtime; a valid MB 3rd Class certificate and strong troubleshooting are required.

Qualifications

• 3rd Class Power Engineer Certificate MB required.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and drawings.
• Ability to read and understand specifications and drawings and computer literacy.
• Thorough understanding of Safety program procedures
• Able to work with minimum supervision

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain steam boiler, and other utility equipment in accordance with MB Safety Authority regulations.
• Prepare and monitor starch batches used in the manufacturing process, ensuring proper consistency, quality, and supply for production needs.
• Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance to ensure systems are operating safely and efficiently.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair issues within the steam plant.
• Monitor and record system readings, maintain logbooks, and report any abnormalities.
• Assist in the development and implementation of maintenance procedures and safety protocols.
• Support other maintenance tasks and participate in plant shutdowns and startups.
• Collaborate with the production and maintenance teams to minimize downtime.

What you’ll do

As a Power Engineer 3rd class, you’ll be at the heart of operations - right on the floor where materials take shape. Your day-to-day:
