Job summary

Vanco Farms Ltd. is seeking a Farm Worker to join the warehouse facility processing team in Prince Edward Island. The role involves grading, processing and packaging potatoes and tulips, with emphasis on health, safety, and quality standards.

Ideal candidates are skilled in manual tasks, able to stand for long periods, and capable of lifting up to 30 lbs. English is required; Spanish is a bonus. On-site position with family-owned farming operations.

Qualifications

• Good manual dexterity and ability to use hands quickly.
• Ability to perform repetitive tasks with accuracy.
• Ability to stand for long periods and be on your feet.
• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
• Self-starter, proactive and able to work well in a team with limited supervision.
• No education requirements.

Responsibilities

• Comply with legislation and regulatory standards when performing on-the-farm activities as directed by management.
• Follow standard operating procedures.
• Follow health and safety protocols to minimize risk in the workplace.
• Comply with food safety protocols.
• Grade potatoes and/or tulips; inspect and discard infected or damaged product and foreign material.
• Pack potatoes and/or tulips according to customer specifications.
• Assist with maintenance of equipment and facilities.
• Perform other farm duties as assigned.

Position Summary

The Farm Worker is part of the warehouse facility processing team that is grading,processingand packaging potatoes and tulips.

Position Responsibilities

• Worker to comply with legislation and regulatory standards when performing on-the-farm activities as directed by management
• Follow standard operating procedures
• Follow processes and procedures with respect to health and safety standards to minimize risk in the workplace
• Comply with protocols for food safety
• Follow procedures for grading potatoes and/or tulips – inspect potatoes and/or tulips as they pass through inspection table, discard of infected or damaged product and foreign material
• Pack potatoes and/or bunch tulips according to customer specifications
• Assist with maintenance of equipment and facilities
• Other farm duties as assigned

Skills and Abilities

• Good manual dexterity, ability to work quickly with your hands
• Ability to perform repetitive tasks with efficiency and accuracy
• Capable of standing for long periods of time and working on your feet
• Lifting objects up to 30 lbs. in weight
• Ability to work with limited supervision, be a self-starter, proactive and a team player
