Position Overview:

We're looking for a Portfolio Analyst to bridge our investment and operations teams in Montreal. You'll own the complete portfolio lifecycle: from deal execution and settlement through reconciliation, analytics, and performance reporting. You'll work directly with investment professionals while commanding the operational infrastructure that powers our portfolio.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and maintain month-end trade blotters across all asset classes and client accounts, monitoring trade settlement with custodians and counterparties and resolving failed or delayed settlements.
  • Process and track private markets capital activity, including capital calls, distributions, subscriptions, and redemptions, ensuring deadlines are met and records are complete.
  • Track corporate actions and ensure they are accurately reflected in portfolio records.
  • Perform position, cash, and transaction reconciliations between custodian, fund administrator, and internal records, investigating breaks to root cause and coordinating resolution with external parties.
  • Verify fund pricing, NAVs, and fee calculations against source documentation, maintaining the integrity of portfolio and security master data.
  • Calculate and validate portfolio performance on a monthly and quarterly cycle at the account, composite, and asset class levels, including attribution analysis relative to benchmarks and policy portfolios.
  • Produce recurring performance reporting packages and support the preparation of client-facing performance materials.
  • Support the investment team with portfolio analytics, exposure reporting, and data requests for investment committee and client materials.
  • Proactively identify operational inefficiencies and contribute to the development of automated workflows, reporting tools, and data infrastructure using AI, scripting, and workflow automation tools to improve accuracy and scalability.
  • Document operational procedures and controls, and identify opportunities to strengthen them as the platform grows.
Qualifications
  • 3-5 years of experience in investment operations, middle office, fund administration, custody, or performance measurement at an institutional-quality asset management firm, fund administrator, or custodian.
  • Working knowledge of the trade lifecycle, including trade capture, confirmation, settlement conventions across asset classes, corporate actions, and familiarity with performance measurement and attribution methodologies.
  • A degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline; progress toward a professional designation such as the CFA or CIPM is a strong asset.
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong data manipulation capabilities; experience with SQL, Python, or workflow automation tools is an asset.
  • Demonstrated experience with - or strong aptitude to learn - AI and automation tools, including large language models, workflow automation platforms, and intelligent document processing, to streamline operational processes.
  • Experience working with private markets structures (capital calls, distributions, subscription documents, fund administrator reporting) is an asset.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage recurring deadlines alongside ad hoc requests in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Clear written and verbal communication, with the ability to explain operational issues and performance results to investment professionals and non‑technical audiences alike.
  • For all positions in Québec, proficiency in French and English, both spoken and written, is mandatory. English is required due to regular interaction with colleagues and external partners outside Québec.
