Sagard Holdings Service Corp. is seeking a Portfolio & Market Intelligence Analyst Intern in Toronto. The role involves supporting investment operations, portfolio analysis, and data-driven research to identify breakthrough fintech companies.

You will prepare decks, analyze data, and assist senior management with strategic insights. Open to current undergraduates in STEM/Commerce with strong academics and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program; preferably in STEM, Commerce, or business related fields.
• Strong academic record and a passion for financial services and technology.
• Comfortable with ambiguity in an entrepreneurial environment.
• Organized with close attention to detail; team player who supports the team.
• Ability to synthesize and articulate thoughts about companies and markets clearly.
• Knowledge and familiarity with data manipulation; proficient in Excel/PowerPoint.
• Must be authorized to work in Canada.

Responsibilities

• Assist in investment operations by identifying pain points and researching solutions with engineering and business teams.
• Support portfolio and fund analysis by collecting, organizing, and analyzing data from portfolio companies.
• Assist in research and presentation writing, including data visualization and deck design.
• Provide ad-hoc analytical support to senior management as needed.

Compensation range: CAD$90,000 per year

IMPORTANT: This posting is for current undergraduate students who are available to work for 8 months starting January 2027 to August 2027.

Position overview: Portage is currently looking for an individual who is highly analytical and deeply passionate about fintech to join our team in Toronto as a Portfolio & Market Intelligence Analyst Intern. This person will play a pivotal role in supporting our team to find and support transformative, breakthrough companies in financial services. Portage offers a hybrid working environment at our downtown Toronto office. This position is hiring on a rolling basis.

Responsibilities

• Assist in investment operations by working with the business team and investment team to identify pain points and research potential solutions alongside our engineering team; Conduct portfolio and fund analysis and monitoring through collecting, organizing, and analyzing data from our portfolio companies;
• Assist in research and presentation writing, including analyzing data, visualizing data, and writing/designing decks;
• Provide ad-hoc analytical and strategic support to senior management, as needed.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program; preferably in STEM, Commerce, or business related fields;
• Strong academic record;
• A strong passion and /or interest in financial services and technology;
• Comfortable with ambiguity and in an entrepreneurial environment where things change constantly;
• Organized with a close attention to detail;
• Team player – collaborate and willing to take on whatever is needed to support the team;
• Ability to attentively review, assess, and provide detailed information daily on multiple projects in an organized manner;
• Strong written and oral communication skills;
• ability to synthesize and articulate thoughts about companies and markets concisely;
• Knowledge and familiarity with data manipulation and strong Excel/PowerPoint skills;
• Must be authorized to work in Canada.
