Portage, the venture capital arm of Sagard Holdings, is seeking an analytical Portfolio & Market Intelligence Analyst Intern in Toronto. You will support investment operations, analyze portfolios, and assist in research and deck creation while collaborating with the team in a hybrid in-person/remote setup.

Ideal candidates are undergraduates in STEM/Commerce/business with a strong academic record and excellent Excel/PowerPoint skills, ready to work in a fast-paced fintech environment.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program; preferably STEM, Commerce, or business related fields.
• Strong academic record.
• Passion for financial services and technology.
• Comfortable with ambiguity in an entrepreneurial environment.
• Organized with attention to detail.
• Ability to collaborate and support the team.
• Strong written and oral communication; ability to synthesize information.
• Knowledge of data manipulation; strong Excel/PowerPoint skills.
• Must be authorized to work in Canada.

Responsabilités

Compensation range: CAD$90,000 per year

Position overview:

Portage is currently looking for an individual who is highly analytical and deeply passionate about fintech to join our team in Toronto as a Portfolio & Market Intelligence Analyst Intern. This person will play a pivotal role in supporting our team to find and support transformative, breakthrough companies in financial services. Portage offers a hybrid working environment at our downtown Toronto office. This position is hiring on a rolling basis.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in investment operations by working with the business team and investment team to identify pain points and research potential solutions alongside our engineering team;


• Conduct portfolio and fund analysis and monitoring through collecting, organizing, and analyzing data from our portfolio companies;


• Assist in research and presentation writing, including analyzing data, visualizing data, and writing/designing decks;


• Provide ad-hoc analytical and strategic support to senior management, as needed.

Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program; preferably in STEM, Commerce, or business related fields;


• Strong academic record;


• A strong passion and /or interest in financial services and technology;


• Comfortable with ambiguity and in an entrepreneurial environment where things change constantly;


• Organized with a close attention to detail;


• Team player – collaborate and willing to take on whatever is needed to support the team;


• Ability to attentively review, assess, and provide detailed information daily on multiple projects in an organized manner;


• Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to synthesize and articulate thoughts about companies and markets concisely;


• Knowledge and familiarity with data manipulation and strong Excel/PowerPoint skills;


• Must be authorized to work in Canada.
