Job summary

Sagard is seeking an undergraduate Portfolio & Market Intelligence Analyst Intern in Toronto to support fintech investments through portfolio research, data analysis, and market insights.

Join a hybrid team, work with the investment and engineering groups, and contribute to strategic decision-making. The 8-month internship runs January 2027 to August 2027; eligibility to work in Canada is required.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program; preferably in STEM, Commerce, or business related fields.
• Strong academic record.
• A strong passion and /or interest in financial services and technology.
• Comfortable with ambiguity and in an entrepreneurial environment where things change constantly.
• Organized with a close attention to detail.
• Team player – collaborate and willing to take on whatever is needed to support the team.
• Ability to attentively review, assess, and provide detailed information daily on multiple projects in an organized manner.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• ability to synthesize and articulate thoughts about companies and markets concisely.
• Knowledge and familiarity with data manipulation and strong Excel/PowerPoint skills.
• Must be authorized to work in Canada.

Compensation range: CAD$90,000 per year

Position overview: Portage is currently looking for an individual who is highly analytical and deeply passionate about fintech to join our team in Toronto as a Portfolio & Market Intelligence Analyst Intern. This person will play a pivotal role in supporting our team to find and support transformative, breakthrough companies in financial services. Portage offers a hybrid working environment at our downtown Toronto office. This position is hiring on a rolling basis.

Responsibilities

• Assist in investment operations by working with the business team and investment team to identify pain points and research potential solutions alongside our engineering team; Conduct portfolio and fund analysis and monitoring through collecting, organizing, and analyzing data from our portfolio companies;
• Assist in research and presentation writing, including analyzing data, visualizing data, and writing/designing decks;
• Provide ad-hoc analytical and strategic support to senior management, as needed.
