Job summary

Johnson Electric in Stratford, Ontario, is seeking a PLC Co-op to join the Maintenance team onsite. The role focuses on designing control systems for new machines, troubleshooting and modifying existing setups, and driving continuous improvement projects.

You will program PLCs (Allen Bradley and Siemens), HMIs, servo systems and VFDs, and work with robotics, vision systems, and automation tooling. Relevant coursework and an engineering degree are expected.

Qualifications

• Three-year advanced diploma or a degree in engineering or related field.
• Able to understand electrical drawings.
• Programing courses included in program.

Responsibilities

• Designs, develops, and implements Control Systems.
• Programs PLCs (Allen Bradley and Siemens).
• Programs HMI, servo systems and VFDs.
• Programs robotics and automation systems.
• Programs vision systems (IR vision, Cognex, Keyence, Omron).
• Designs control panels, wiring diagrams and BOM.
• Instructs maintenance personnel on automation systems usage and programming.
• Mentors licensed Electricians and helps develop PLC skills.
• Supports automation cell improvements and continuous improvement initiatives.
