Job summary

The City of Medicine Hat is seeking a Project Engineer – Plant Maintenance to lead capital and operational equipment improvements at the electric generation facility. You will coordinate specifications, budgets, schedules, consultants, contractors, and plant stakeholders to strengthen safety, reliability, and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized post-secondary institution.
• Professional Membership in, or the ability to become a Professional Member of APEGA.
• Five (5) years of directly related experience as a Professional Engineer.
• Knowledge of PEIM Program and Piping Line class.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) designation or ability to obtain.
• Valid Class 5 driver's license with acceptable driving record.
• Safety Sensitive role with satisfactory pre-employment drug screen (cannabis testing).

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of capital and operational equipment improvements with budgets, schedules, and stakeholders.
• Provide timely engineering support to resolve maintenance challenges and plan outages.
• Strengthen plant safety and regulatory compliance through Process Safety Management activities and documentation.
• Develop business cases, cost estimates, forecasts, and project evaluations for decisions.
• Collaborate with operations and maintenance to interpret plant data and implement solutions.
• Prepare outage reports, root cause analyses, and engineering documentation.
