Job summary

Amrize West Kelowna is hiring a Plant Loader Operator/Trainee Asphalt Plant Operator to support asphalt production. You will operate a loader, feed bins, manage stockpiles, and assist with plant maintenance while training toward plant operator duties.

The role offers on-site work in West Kelowna, BC, with on-the-job training, safety emphasis, and opportunities for advancement as you learn controls and operations of the plant. A high school diploma and 2–5 years loader experience are preferred.

The Plant Loader Operator / Trainee Asphalt Plant Operator is responsible for operating a loader to support asphalt plant production, including feeding cold feed bins, managing stockpiles, and assisting with plant maintenance. This role will also provide training opportunities to learn asphalt plant operations, with progression into plant operator duties over time.

WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Operate a loader to feed cold feed bins and maintain consistent plant production.
  • Manage aggregate stockpiles and ensure proper material handling.
  • Assist with asphalt plant maintenance, cleanup, and general site duties.
  • Perform daily equipment inspections including fluids and general upkeep.
  • Support plant operations to ensure safe and efficient production.
  • Learn asphalt plant controls, systems, and operational procedures.
  • Progress into plant operation responsibilities as training and experience develop.
  • Take action to avoid potential hazards or obstructions.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving, and adhering to health, safety, and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Education: High school education or equivalent.
Required Work Experience: 2–5 years experience operating loaders or similar heavy equipment preferred.
Additional Requirements:

  • Manual dexterity and ability to operate equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn asphalt plant operations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends, as necessary.
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
