Job summary

A growing Canadian manufacturer in Ajax is seeking an Accountant to manage full-cycle accounts receivable and other accounting tasks. The ideal candidate will have a CPA designation or be actively enrolled in the CPA PEP program, and possess 3-10 years of accounting experience in a manufacturing setting. Exceptional attention to detail and strong interpersonal skills are essential. Compensation ranges from CAD $80,000.00 to $100,000.00 plus a 10% discretionary annual bonus.

Strong knowledge of full-cycle accounting and month-end close.

The Job!

As an Accountant, you will be responsible for managing full-cycle accounts receivable, including reviewing shipping data, issuing invoices, applying customer payments, and following up on past-due balances. You will also be responsible for:

Handle general accounting tasks such as journal entries, monthly and year-end close, bank and credit card reconciliations, and balance sheet reconciliations with proper documentation.
Prepare and file monthly GST and WSIB submissions.
Track and report plant metrics such as costs, KPIs, labor, production efficiency, and scrap using the ERP system.
Assist with annual budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis to support financial planning.
Partner with operations, supply chain, and production teams to ensure accurate financial reporting aligned with operational performance.
Support internal and external audits, particularly in cost accounting, inventory, and reconciliations.
Provide ad hoc financial analysis and insights to business leaders and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Gain exposure to cost analysis, FP&A, and cross-functional projects with opportunities for career growth into leadership roles.

What you bring to the job

The ideal candidate is someone with strong knowledge of full-cycle accounting, reconciliations, and month-end close. You have exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to meet deadlines, as well as the following:

CPA designation or active enrollment in the CPA PEP program.
Minimum 3-10 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in a manufacturing environment.
Proficiency with an ERP and advanced Excel skills.
Effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills to collaborate across teams.
Experience in lean manufacturing or continuous improvement environments is an asset.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting and connect financial data to operational performance.
