Job description

Your Opportunity:

Central Corridor Medical Affairs is seeking an experienced Physician Recruiter to support physician recruitment, retention and workforce planning across rural Central Corridor communities, programs and sites and designated specialties at Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre. Working with physician and operational leadership, AHS departments and facilities, Medical Affairs teams and community partners, you will identify current and anticipated physician resource needs and develop recruitment strategies to attract appropriately trained physicians. Effective physician recruitment is essential to supporting service continuity and timely access to healthcare. This highly independent role encompasses the full physician recruitment lifecycle, including Impact Analysis approvals, advertising and candidate sourcing, screening, interviews, references, site visits, offers and Return in Service Agreements, immigration requirements, physician assessments and onboarding. You will also contribute to physician workforce planning and forecasting, maintain physician rosters, monitor vacancies and recruitment activity, support attraction and retention initiatives and provide recruitment information to leadership and other stakeholders. Success requires sound judgment, initiative, exceptional organization and the ability to build trusted relationships while independently managing multiple complex and time-sensitive priorities across a geographically diverse portfolio.

Description:

The Physician Recruiter resides in Central Corridor and coordinates physician recruitment and workforce planning for an assigned Central Corridor portfolio. Working closely with physicians, medical and operational leaders, healthcare facilities and community partners, the Recruiter identifies current and future physician resource needs and develops strategies to attract appropriately trained physicians. Responsibilities include managing Impact Analysis approvals, advertising and candidate sourcing, screening applicants, coordinating and participating in interviews, completing references, arranging site visits, preparing Letters of Offer and Return in Service Agreements, supporting immigration requirements and physician assessments, and coordinating onboarding with Medical Affairs partners. The position also maintains physician workforce information, monitors vacancies and recruitment activity, contributes to workforce planning and forecasting, provides recruitment updates and supports physician attraction and retention initiatives. This role requires strong judgment, organization and relationship-building skills. The successful candidate must be able to independently manage multiple recruitment files and priorities while navigating complex healthcare, physician licensing, immigration and organizational processes across multiple communities and specialties.

Required Qualifications
  • Resides in Central Corridor. Minimum of a related post-secondary degree or diploma and two years of directly related healthcare, recruitment or Medical Affairs experience. A combination of education and experience may be considered. Demonstrated ability to independently coordinate complex recruitment, workforce or healthcare processes involving multiple stakeholders and competing priorities. Strong organizational, critical thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to exercise sound judgment, establish priorities and manage multiple concurrent files with minimal supervision. Demonstrated ability to build effective relationships with physicians, medical and operational leaders, community partners and multidisciplinary stakeholders. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be physically located within Central Zone and able to travel regularly throughout the Central Corridor. Valid driver's licence and access to a vehicle are required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of full-cycle recruitment including candidate sourcing, screening, interviews, references, offers and onboarding. Working knowledge of physician recruitment, immigration requirements, CPSA licensing and assessment pathways, and appointment and privileging processes. Ability to interpret and apply organizational policies, procedures and guidelines to complex and non-standard situations. Working knowledge of AHS systems, processes and organizational structure. Proficiency with Outlook, Word, Excel, electronic databases and recruitment/workforce systems. Experience maintaining workforce data, monitoring vacancies, preparing reports and supporting workforce planning and forecasting. Ability to manage confidential and politically sensitive information and navigate the interests of diverse stakeholders. Knowledge of FOIP/privacy requirements and financial processes. Demonstrated ability to independently manage time-sensitive work across multiple sites, communities and physician specialties.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience in physician recruitment or Medical Affairs within Alberta's healthcare system. Experience with rural and specialist physician recruitment, CPSA licensing and assessment pathways, LMIA/immigration processes, Return in Service Agreements, appointment and privileging, physician workforce planning and forecasting, and community attraction and retention initiatives is preferred.
