  • Read and interpret construction drawings, grade sheets, and specifications to determine pipe type, size, line, grade, and placement.
  • Excavate, prepare, and fine‑grade trenches and bedding materials to the correct depth, slope, and width, ensuring a stable base for pipe installation.

What we’re looking for!

Are you a collaborative and driven individual with:

  • Solid understanding of pipe types, jointing techniques, and installation procedures in heavy civil construction.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and grade stakes.
  • Experience using lasers, levels, and other layout equipment to achieve accurate line and grade.
  • Physical stamina to perform strenuous work in varying weather and site conditions.
  • Team‑oriented attitude with good communication skills and a strong commitment to safety

Assets that will set you apart are:

  • Valid Class ‘G’ Driver’s license: Having reliable transportation to access job sites—many of which are in evolving or remote locations is essential for punctuality and project flow.
  • Minimum 2 years experience within the heavy civil construction sector: Hands‑on experience installing storm, sanitary, and water infrastructure under tight tolerances and changing site conditions demonstrates job‑readiness and confidence working in deep trenches and confined spaces.
  • Experience Working Around Live Utilities and Complex Tie‑ins: Knowledge of safe excavation near live services or connections to existing infrastructure is a significant advantage on municipal and infrastructure contracts.
  • Proficiency with Lasers, Levels, and Layout Tools: Operators and supervisors rely on accurate layout. Pipelayers with a sharp eye for line, grade, and elevation ensure smoother installations and reduce costly rework.
  • Ability to Interpret and Execute Plans with Minimal Supervision: Understanding drawings, pipe bedding requirements, and proper backfill procedures shows initiative and supports a productive, safety‑conscious worksite.
  • Training and Certifications in Confined Space Entry, Trench Safety, and WHMIS: These credentials reinforce your commitment to personal and crew safety—particularly important when working in deep excavations and around heavy equipment.
  • Willingness to extend hours, when necessary: Certain phases, like connections, testing, or shutdowns, may require evening or weekend work. Flexibility helps keep critical milestones on track.
