Job summary

Firma Contracting in Edmonton is seeking an experienced Pipelayer to perform underground utility work in the area. The position offers competitive wages, benefits, work/life balance, and potential for advancement with training and an RRSP plan.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of pipelayer experience required.
• Underground utility rehab/replacement experience is an asset.
• Ability to read blueprints and maintain quality standards.
• Strong communication and safety focus.

Responsibilities

• Install water, storm and sanitary pipe.
• Follow established grade for water, storm and sanitary pipe.
• Work with mainline operator and top man to ensure flow.
• Provide clear communication to maintain safe operations and quality installation.
• Continuously assess risk and implement controls / mitigations.
• Complete site documentation as required.
• Participate in inspections and incidents and address deficiencies.

Firma Contracting is currently seeking an experienced Pipelayer to work on underground utility projects located in Edmonton. We do rehabilitation work allowing us be less weather dependant and have less downtime due to weather.

Hourly Wage: $38-$44 (based on experience)

Additional Compensation:

• Signing bonus available for eligible candidates
• Eligible for performance bonuses

Duties include (but are not limited to):

• Installation of water, storm and sanitary pipe
• Follow the established grade for water, storm and sanitary pipe
• Work closely with mainline operator and top man to ensure efficient flow and production
• Provide a high degree of clear communication with operators, top man and workers in the ditch to maintain safe operations and quality installation
• Continuous assessment of risk and implementation of required controls / mitigations
• Complete site documentation as required
• Participate in inspections and incidents - address deficiencies / issues through corrective actions
• Conduct oneself in a professional manner with honesty and integrity

Required Skills:

• 2+ years of pipelayer experience is required
• Underground utility rehabilitation / replacement experience is an asset
• Ability to read blueprints
• High attention to detail and management of quality specifications
• Safety conscious
• Strong understanding of pipe installation process and flow logistics
• Competent in the use of various rigging techniques and mechanisms
• Able to work independently and follow instruction from the foreman
• Able to support other positions as needed
• Strong communication skills – provide instructions clearly with sufficient detail
• Ability to mentor workers for advancement
• Physically capable of performing heavy manual labour
• Consistent, reliable and always show up for work fit for duty
