Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience as a Mainline Excavator Operator.
• Underground utility rehabilitation / replacement experience.
• Exceptionally safety conscious.
• Able to work independently and follow instruction from the superintendent/foreman.
• Ability to operate other equipment is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Rehab / replacement work - install underground utilities in residential/commercial areas.
• Work closely with pipe crews to install pipe safely and efficiently.
• Adhere to excavation and trenching legislation and safety procedures.
• Daily equipment inspections and maintenance; ensure high quality production.

Mainline Hoe Operator

Firma Contracting is currently seeking an experienced Mainline Hoe Operator to work on underground / water & sewer projects located in Edmonton and area. We offer competitive wages, work / life balance, great opportunity for advancement, training and potential for work over the winter. Because a significant portion of our work involves rehabilitation projects, we are less dependent on weather conditions, allowing for more consistent work and reduced weather-related downtime throughout the year.

Hourly Wage: $40-$46 (Based on experience)

Duties include (but are not limited to):

• Rehab / replacement work - installation of underground utilities in close proximity to existing utilities and in existing residential / commercial areas
• Work closely with pipe crews to install pipe - ensuring a high level of safety, communication and quality
• Adherence to legislation for excavation and trenching requirements
• Lower materials to pipe crews using proper rigging mechanisms and procedures
• Operate equipment in close proximity to ground personnel and other equipment
• Ensure work is always done safely, to the highest quality standard while maintaining strong production
• Promote, execute and adhere to the company’s safety program
• Daily equipment inspections and maintenance
• Conduct oneself in a professional manner with honesty and integrity

Required Skills:

• 3+ years of experience as a Mainline Excavator Operator
• Underground utility rehabilitation / replacement experience is required
• Exceptionally safety conscious
• Able to work independently and follow instruction from the superintendent / foreman

• Strong communication skills
