Propak Systems Ltd. in Airdrie, AB is seeking Journeyman and Apprentice Pipefitters to join our Fabrication Shops.

We offer day, evening and weekend day shifts with premiums and a competitive compensation/benefits package including RRSP matching. Core duties include laying out, assembling, fabricating, maintaining and testing piping systems, reading drawings, selecting pipe, cutting/threading, welding, and installing supports and control systems.

Qualifications

• Trade prerequisites include Alberta Journeyperson or equivalent certificates.
• Inter-Provincial Red Seal certificate preferred.
• 1-2 years of related pipefitting experience.
• Eligible for registration or active apprentice status.

Responsibilities

• Lays out, assembles, fabricates, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs piping systems carrying water, steam, chemicals, and fuel in heating, cooling, lubricating, and other process piping systems
• Reads and interprets drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine layout requirements
• Selects type and size of pipe required
• Measures, cuts, and threads pipe to required shape using hand and power tools
• Tack, welds and threads joints to join pipes and fabricate sections of piping system
• Installs supports, valves, piping, and control systems
• Tests system for leaks using testing equipment
• Cleans and maintains pipe units and fittings and flush systems
• Removes and replaces worn components and reactivates systems
• Listen and be receptive to instructions and work to achieve set goals, action plans and timelines for project completion.
• Apply knowledge and skills learned from coaches and mentors to ensure completion of the apprenticeship program.

Key Responsibilities:

Journeyman and Apprentices:

Qualifications:

• Hold a valid recognized Alberta Journeyperson Trade Certificate, or a recognized trade certificate or equivalency document.
• Inter-Provincial Red Seal Certificate is preferred.
• 1-2 years of directly related work experience.
• This position may be required to direct, coach, and mentor apprentices.
• Be eligible for registration as a registered apprentice; or
• Be a registered apprentice.
• Motivated and willing to learn.
