Job summary

Propak Systems Ltd. in Airdrie, AB seeks Journeyman and Apprentice Structural Welders to join our fabrication shops. We offer day, evening, and weekend day shifts with premiums. Competitive compensation and a group RRSP are provided, along with a supportive path to apprenticeship completion.

Responsibilities include reading drawings, welding structural materials with FCAW/SMAW, setting up equipment, and mentoring apprentices as needed.

Qualifications

• Alberta Journeyperson Trade Certificate or equivalent required.
• CWB certification in FCAW to at least G3 Vertical position required before start date.
• 1–2 years of related work experience.
• Eligible to register as a registered apprentice; or be a registered apprentice.
• Inter-Provincial Red Seal preferred.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret drawings, blueprints and specifications for layout.
• Read welding symbols in drawings.
• Weld various structural materials using FCAW/SMAW.
• Cutting, gouging and grinding of structural materials.
• Set up, operate and clean welding equipment.
• Work to timelines and apply mentor guidance to complete apprenticeship.

Structural Welder (Apprentice/Journeyman)

Propak Systems Ltd. is an established leader in engineering, fabrication, and construction of gas compression and processing facilities for the energy industry. We are currently seeking Journeyman and Apprentice Structural Welders to join our Fabrication Shops in Airdrie, AB.

Key Responsibilities:

Journeyman and Apprentices:

• Read and interpret drawings, blueprints and specifications to determine layout requirements.
• Read all types of welding symbols
• Welding of all types of structural materials using FCAW and SMAW processes
• Cutting gouging grinding of all types of structural materials
• Setup operating and cleanup of equipment Saw Ironworker Welding Machine FCAW feeder etc.
• Listen and be receptive to instructions and work to achieve set goals, action plans and timelines for project completion.
• Apply knowledge and skills learned from coaches and mentors to ensure completion of the apprenticeship program.

Qualifications:

• Hold a valid recognized Alberta Journeyperson Trade Certificate, or a recognized trade certificate or equivalency document.
• Have valid CWB certification In FCAW to a least G3 Vertical position prior to start date
• Inter-Provincial Red Seal Certificate is preferred.
• 1-2 years of directly related work experience.
• This position may be required to direct, coach, and mentor apprentices.
• Be eligible for registration as a registered apprentice; or
• Be a registered apprentice.
• Motivated and willing to learn.
