Propak Systems Ltd. in Airdrie, AB is seeking Journeyman and Apprentice Crane Operators to join our Fabrication Shops. This hands-on role involves operating cranes, rigging, and preparing lifts with strict safety standards.

Qualifications

• Alberta Journeyperson Trade Certificate or equivalent is required.
• Inter-Provincial Red Seal preferred.
• 1–2 years of related work experience.
• Eligible to register as a registered apprentice or already registered as an apprentice.
• Willing to coach/mentor apprentices.

Responsibilities

• Operate cranes to lift, move, position, or place equipment and materials.
• Drive the crane to the job site.
• Rig the machine and set up the lift, ensuring stability.
• Perform pre-operational inspections and calculate crane capacities.
• Maintain and lubricate cranes; perform routine upkeep.
• Mentor apprentices and follow coaches' guidance.
• Adhere to safety plans and project timelines.

Job description

Propak Systems Ltd. is an established leader in engineering, fabrication, and construction of gas compression and processing facilities for the energy industry. We are currently seeking Journeyman and Apprentice Crane Operators to join our Fabrication Shops in Airdrie, AB.

Key Responsibilities:

Journeyman and Apprentices:

• Operate cranes to lift, move, position or place equipment and materials.


• Drive the crane to the job site.


• Rig the machine up(pinthe boom and pendant cables and pull the hoist cable in preparation for operation).


• Set up the machine for the lift (make it level and stable) using blocking and leveling materials.


• Booms (including telescoping booms and articulating booms possessing live lines)capable of swinging, hoisting and booming up and down with a liftingcapacity of greater than5 tons (4.5 tonnes) and less than 45 tons (40.8 tons).


• Service and operate travelling, fixed or climbing type hoisting equipment with a vertical mast or tower and a jib.


• Perform pre-operational inspection, and calculate crane capacities and weight to prepare for rigging and hoisting.


• Perform routine maintenance work such as cleaning and lubricating cranes.


• Listen and be receptive to instructions and work to achieve set goals, action plans and timelines for project completion.


• Apply knowledge and skills learned from coaches and mentors to ensure completion of the apprenticeship program.

Qualifications:

• Hold a valid recognized Alberta Journeyperson Trade Certificate, or a recognized trade certificate or equivalency document.


• Inter-Provincial Red Seal Certificate is preferred.


• 1-2 years of directly related work experience.


• This position may be required to direct, coach, and mentor apprentices.


• Be eligible for registration as a registered apprentice; or


• Be a registered apprentice.


• Motivated and willing to learn.
