Qualifications

• Hold a valid Alberta Journeyperson Trade Certificate or equivalent.
• 1-2 years of directly related work experience.
• Be eligible or registered as an apprentice in Industrial Mechanic (Millwright).
• Motivated and willing to learn.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints, diagrams and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
• Install, align, dismantle and move stationary industrial machinery and equipment using hand and power tools.
• Operate hoisting and lifting devices to position machinery during installation, setup and repair.
• Inspect and examine machinery and equipment for proper completion and to ensure work is error-free.
• Assemble machinery and equipment prior to installation using hand and power tools and welding equipment.
• Listen and be receptive to instructions and work to achieve goals and timelines.
• Apply knowledge to ensure completion of the apprenticeship program.

Key Responsibilities

Journeyman and Apprentices

• Read blueprints, diagrams and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
• Install, align, dismantle and move stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment, such as pumps, fans, tanks, and generators according to layout plans using hand and power tools.
• Operate hoisting and lifting devices such as cranes and jacks to position machinery and parts during the installation, set-up and repair of machinery.
• Inspect and examine machinery and equipment proper completion and to ensure work completed error free.
• Assemble machinery and equipment prior to installation using hand and power tools and welding equipment.
• Listen and be receptive to instructions and work to achieve set goals, action plans and timelines for project completion.
• Apply knowledge and skills learned from coaches and mentors to ensure completion of the apprenticeship program.

Qualifications

• Hold a valid recognized Alberta Journeyperson Trade Certificate, or a recognized trade certificate or equivalency document.
• 1-2 years of directly related work experience.
• This position may be required to direct, coach, and mentor apprentices.
• Be eligible for registration as a registered apprentice; or
• Be a registered apprentice.
• Motivated and willing to learn.
