  • Attend daily toolbox meetings for project coordination.

Job description

Job Purpose

The job purpose of a Journeyman Pipefitter is to use their specialized skills and knowledge to install, maintain, and repair piping systems in a safe and efficient manner, contributing to the success of construction, plumbing, and industrial projects. They play a critical role in ensuring that these systems operate effectively and reliably.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Adhere to the Academy HSE program's guidelines
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to Academy's safety program, values, and corporate culture
  • Interpret isometric drawings accurately for fabrication purposes
  • Align and secure pipes in accordance with isometric drawings
  • Arrange and mark pipes for precision cutting
  • Operate manual or semi-automatic flame cutting equipment
  • Utilize hoisting and lifting equipment effectively
  • Operate welding machines that have been pre-set
  • Possibility of being tasked with operating a skid steer
  • Be open to working flexible schedules as required
  • Effectively communicate in a professional manner with individuals at all organizational levels
  • Mentor and collaborate closely with Pipefitter Apprentices
  • Attend daily toolbox meetings for project coordination
  • Consistently and correctly follow established procedures
  • Wear the appropriate personal protective gear at all times
  • Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and organization in the work area
  • Report any personal injuries, regardless of severity, and seek necessary medical attention when required

  • Hold a valid Class 5 driver's license

  • Required to have a valid CSTS-09 (Construction Safety Training Systems) certification
  • Mandatory possession of WHMIS 2015 certification

Working Conditions

The incumbent is required to work in the fabrication shop with moderate noise and numerous hazardous fumes.

Physical Requirements

The incumbent is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: viewing weld specifications for extended periods of time; and extensive reading. The incumbent is also required to stand and sit for extended periods of time and will require good physical attributes for walking on uneven ground, climbing, confined space entry, limited lifting, and sitting.
