Job summary

Startec Compression & Process is seeking a Pipefitter to work at our Shepard Shop in Calgary. The role involves mounting major equipment and assembling small- and large-bore piping systems according to drawings such as GA’s, P&IDs and isometrics, with opportunities to mentor apprentices.

Candidates must be a registered 3rd or 4th year Apprentice or Journeyperson Pipefitter, with 1–2 years of fabrication/manufacturing experience and strong teamwork and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Registered 3rd or 4th year Apprentice or Journeyperson Pipefitter.
• 1–2 years of experience in fabrication or manufacturing environment.
• Good organizational and excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assemble piping systems and mount major equipment per drawings (GA, P&ID, isometrics).
• Layout skids for small bore piping and support spooling.
• Read, interpret and redline construction drawings and blueprints.
• Assist and mentor apprentices as needed.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Startec Compression & Process is currently recruiting a Pipefitter to work at our Shepard Shop (9423 Shepard Rd SE, Calgary, AB, T2C 4R6). Pipefitter plays a vital role in mounting majors and assembling small-bore and large-bore piping systems according to drawings on various skidded packages. Reporting to the Assembly Supervisor, work is completed by reading and interpreting P&IDs, GA’s and Piping Specifications. Additionally, they may mentor apprentices for skill development.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Registered 3rd or 4th year Apprentice or Journeyperson Pipefitter
• 1-2 years of previous experience working in a fabrication or manufacturing environment
• A team player with good organizational skills and excellent communication skills

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPI):

ASSEMBLY

• Installation and placement of major equipment.
• Installation and support of spooling.
• Skid layout for small bore piping.
• Fitting of the socket and screwed small bore pipe.
• Read, interpret and red-line construction drawings and blueprints (Isometrics, P&ID's, G.A.’s)
• Tack welding experience is an asset
