Job summary

Soletanche Bachy Canada Inc. is based in Eastern Canada with its head office in Hamilton, Ontario. This role leads front-end piling activities, coordinating crane and foundation crews, and ensuring safe installation per project specs.

You will guide labourers, ensure materials and tools are ready, and uphold safety standards. The position requires union membership (Local 183 or Local 837) or eligibility to join, and a strong commitment to safety and team collaboration in a demanding construction

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience in piling, deep foundations, heavy civil construction, or related construction operations is an asset.
• Must be member in good standing with Local 183 or Local 837 or eligible to join.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate front-end piling activities for crane, piling, and foundation crews.
• Assist with safe installation of piles, casing, and foundation elements per project specs.
• Direct and support labourers and equipment operators during piling operations.
• Ensure materials, tools, and equipment are prepared to maintain production and workflow.
• Communicate daily work plans, safety expectations, and operational requirements to crew.
• Monitor production and report field conditions, delays, or equipment concerns to supervisors.
• Assist with pile alignment, layout, rigging, and material handling activities.
• Support equipment setup, maintenance, and mobilization.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings, hazard assessments, and site inspections.
• Ensure compliance with company, client, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
• Support other deep foundation and construction activities as required.

Location: Eastern Canada. Our head office is located in Hamilton, Ontario.

Pay Rate: $46.46- $53.46 per hour (in accordance with the applicable collective agreement).

This position is governed by the applicable union collective agreement. Candidates must be members in good standing with Local 183 or Local 837 or be willing and eligible to obtain membership upon hire in accordance with union and project requirements.

Qualifications – What Will Make You Successful

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience: Experience in piling, deep foundations, heavy civil construction, or related construction operations is considered an asset. Experience leading or mentoring crews in a construction environment is considered an asset. Experience working around cranes, piling equipment, drill rigs, and heavy construction equipment is considered an asset.
• Soft skills: Strong commitment to safety and safe work practices. Ability to lead by example and work effectively within a team environment. Strong communication and problem-solving skills. Reliable, dependable, and self-motivated. Ability to work in physically demanding environments and varying weather conditions.
• Required designations or certifications: Must be a member in good standing with Local 183 or Local 837 or be willing and eligible to join upon hire. Valid driver’s licence and ability to travel to project sites throughout Eastern Canada. WHMIS certification (or willingness to obtain). Working at Heights certification considered an asset. First Aid/CPR certification considered an asset. Additional construction safety certifications are considered an asset.
