Job summary

Hall Shoring & Foundations seeks a Foreman to lead field operations with a focus on safety, efficiency, and quality. You will coordinate drilling, piling, and rigging activities while guiding operators and labourers under the direction of the Superintendent.

The role requires strong leadership, site management, and the ability to maintain documentation and compliance with safety programs and regulations on site.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years in a supervisory or lead role in foundation drilling, piling, or heavy civil construction.
  • High School diploma or equivalent required; related certificates are assets.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily field operations including drilling, piling, grouting, pumping and rigging.
  • Plan daily work with the Superintendent to meet project schedules and goals.
  • Assign tasks, monitor crew performance and ensure safety and quality.
  • Lead safety meetings, hazard assessments and pre-task planning.
  • Maintain site records, reports, logs and incident documentation.

Role Summary

The Foreman plays a key leadership role in the daily success of Hall Shoring & Foundations projects. They are responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising field operations to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in line with project requirements. The Foreman leads by example, directing operators, pumpmen, and labourers while maintaining clear communication with the Superintendent. This role demands strong organizational skills, field knowledge, and the ability to motivate and develop the crew to achieve high standards of safety and production.

Core Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily field operations including drilling, piling, grouting, pumping, and rigging activities.
  • Plan daily work in coordination with the Superintendent to meet project schedules and production goals.
  • Assign tasks and monitor crew performance to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to specification.
  • Lead daily hazard assessments, safety meetings, and pre-task planning sessions.
  • Ensure all work areas are organized, equipment is inspected, and materials are staged for efficient workflow.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records including daily reports, timecards, equipment logs, and incident documentation.
  • Monitor site conditions, equipment performance, and manpower needs, communicating updates to the Superintendent.
  • Verify that equipment and tooling are maintained, inspected, and operated safely.
  • Ensure compliance with Hall’s safety program, WorkSafeBC or OHS regulations, and all site-specific requirements.
  • Mentor and support Lead Hands and Operators in developing technical skills and safe work practices.
  • Promote and maintain high housekeeping standards and site organization.
  • Suspend any work that poses immediate safety or environmental risk and notify the Superintendent immediately.
  • Represent Hall’s values through professionalism, accountability, and effective leadership on-site.
Technical Skills
  • Strong understanding of drilling, piling, concrete pumping, and rigging operations.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, pile layouts, and engineered lift or rigging plans.
  • Knowledge of site layout, ground stability, and soil classifications.
  • Familiar with safe hoisting, anchoring, and concrete placement procedures.
  • Competent in identifying hazards and implementing practical control measures.
  • Proficient in completing site documentation and daily reporting requirements.
  • Basic mechanical understanding of foundation and support equipment.
Interpersonal Skills
  • Demonstrates strong leadership, communication, and team-building abilities.
  • Motivates crews to work safely and productively under tight timelines.
  • Balances authority with approachability, maintaining a professional and respectful work environment.
  • Adapts quickly to changing site conditions and resolves issues calmly and effectively.
  • Leads by example, reinforcing Hall’s safety and quality culture through daily actions.
Qualifications
  • Years of experience: Minimum 3 to 5 years in a supervisory or lead role in foundation drilling, piling, or heavy civil construction.
  • Education: High School or Equivalent.
  • Considered an asset:
    • LSE (or equivalent supervisory training)
    • Ground Disturbance Level 2
    • First Aid
    • Rigging
    • Fall Protection
    • MEWP
  • Physical requirements:
    • Must be capable of performing site inspections, climbing on and off equipment, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime and weekends as necessary to meet project deadlines.
