Job summary

Lifemark Seniors Wellness in Stayner, ON, is seeking a Permanent Part-Time Physiotherapy Assistant to support the supervising physiotherapist in residential care settings.

You will perform therapies, assist with gait training and balance activities, deliver group exercise classes, and ensure equipment setup and safety while documenting treatments in Lifemark's web-based system.

Qualifications

• PTA/OTA diploma or degree in Kinesiology or similar healthcare background.
• LTC experience is considered an asset.
• Vulnerable Sector screening within 6 months is required.
• Proof of Tuberculin (2-Step Mantoux) clearance is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist the supervising physiotherapist with components of treatment plans for residents in LTC settings.
• Perform treatments as prescribed, e.g., gait training, balance, ROM, strengthening and modalities (heat, ice, ultrasound, TENS).
• Deliver dynamic exercise classes for groups of residents.
• Set up and prepare equipment and clean treatment areas after sessions.
• Keep resident gym and treatment areas safe and tidy.
• Maintain ongoing communication with the physiotherapist about resident status and interventions.
• Record daily treatments in Seniors Wellness' web-based system.

Job description

Lifemark Seniors Wellness is looking for a Permanent Part-Time Physiotherapy Assistant to join our growing team!

Location: Stayner, ON

Schedule: 20.50 hours/week

Status: Permanent Part-Time

In this role you will:

• Assist the supervising physiotherapist in performing various components of the treatment plans for individuals living in residential care communities
• Perform various treatments as prescribed and directed by the supervising Physiotherapist including but not limited to gait training, balance exercises, transfer training, range of motion, strengthening, application of modalities. (i.e. heat, ice, ultrasound, TENS)
• Deliver dynamic, safe and therapeutically beneficial exercise classes for groups of residents
• Set up and prepare equipment and clean up after residents' treatments
• Ensure that the resident gym and treatment areas are safe and tidy
• Maintain regular ongoing communication with the physiotherapist regarding any changes or concerns about a resident's status or treatment interventions
• Record daily treatments using Seniors Wellness' proprietary, web-based system

Qualifications:

• PTA/OTA diploma, degree in Kinesiology or a similar healthcare background
• Previous experience within an LTC setting an asset.
• A valid Vulnerable Sector screening check (within 6 months)
• Proof of Tuberculin (2-Step Mantoux Test) clearance
