Job summary

Lifemark Seniors Wellness in Sarnia, ON is seeking a Casual Part-Time Physiotherapy Assistant to join our growing team. You will support the supervising physiotherapist in delivering treatment plans to residents in our long-term care communities.

You will assist with gait training, balance, ROM, and other modalities, deliver group exercise classes, prep equipment, maintain a safe treatment area, and document daily treatments in our web system. LTC experience is an asset.

Qualifications

• PTA/OTA diploma or degree in Kinesiology or similar healthcare field.
• LTC experience is an asset.
• Vulnerable Sector screening within 6 months.
• Tuberculin (2-Step Mantoux) clearance.

Responsibilities

• Assist the supervising physiotherapist with treatment plans for residents in residential care.
• Perform treatments including gait training, balance, ROM, strengthening and modalities.
• Deliver dynamic group exercise classes for residents.
• Set up/prep equipment and clean up after treatments.
• Maintain a safe, tidy resident gym and treatment areas.
• Communicate with the physiotherapist about changes in residents.
• Record daily treatments in Seniors Wellness' web-based system.

Education

Lifemark Seniors Wellness is looking for a Casual Part-Time Physiotherapy Assistant to join our growing team!

Location: Sarnia, ON

Status: Casual Part-Time

In this role you will:

• Assist the supervising physiotherapist in performing various components of the treatment plans for individuals living in residential care communities
• Perform various treatments as prescribed and directed by the supervising Physiotherapist including but not limited to gait training, balance exercises, transfer training, range of motion, strengthening, application of modalities. (i.e. heat, ice, ultrasound, TENS)
• Deliver dynamic, safe and therapeutically beneficial exercise classes for groups of residents
• Set up and prepare equipment and clean up after residents' treatments
• Ensure that the resident gym and treatment areas are safe and tidy
• Maintain regular ongoing communication with the physiotherapist regarding any changes or concerns about a resident's status or treatment interventions
• Record daily treatments using Seniors Wellness' proprietary, web-based system

Qualifications:

• PTA/OTA diploma, degree in Kinesiology or a similar healthcare background
• Previous experience within an LTC setting an asset.
• A valid Vulnerable Sector screening check (within 6 months)
• Proof of Tuberculin (2-Step Mantoux Test) clearance
