Job summary

Lifemark Seniors Wellness in Walkerton, ON is seeking a casual part-time Physiotherapy Assistant to support the supervising physiotherapist with treatment plans for residents in long-term care settings.

You will perform prescribed treatments (gait training, balance, ROM, strengthening, modalities), lead group exercise classes, set up/clean equipment, and document daily treatments using our web-based system. Collaboration with the physiotherapist is essential.

Qualifications

• PTA/OTA diploma or degree in kinesiology or similar healthcare background.
• Experience in long-term care setting is a plus.
• Valid Vulnerable Sector screening within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Assist supervising physiotherapist with treatment plans for residents in LTC.
• Perform prescribed treatments including gait training, balance exercises, ROM, strengthening, and modalities.
• Deliver dynamic exercise classes for groups of residents.
• Set up, prepare, and clean equipment; maintain safe gym and treatment areas.
• Record daily treatments in Seniors Wellness' web-based system.
• Maintain communication with the physiotherapist regarding changes in residents' status.

Lifemark Seniors Wellness is looking for a Casual Part-Time Physiotherapy Assistant to join our growing team!

Location: Walkerton, ON

Status: Casual Part-Time

In this role you will:

• Assist the supervising physiotherapist in performing various components of the treatment plans for individuals living in residential care communities
• Perform various treatments as prescribed and directed by the supervising Physiotherapist including but not limited to gait training, balance exercises, transfer training, range of motion, strengthening, application of modalities. (i.e. heat, ice, ultrasound, TENS)
• Deliver dynamic, safe and therapeutically beneficial exercise classes for groups of residents
• Set up and prepare equipment and clean up after residents' treatments
• Ensure that the resident gym and treatment areas are safe and tidy
• Maintain regular ongoing communication with the physiotherapist regarding any changes or concerns about a resident's status or treatment interventions
• Record daily treatments using Seniors Wellness' proprietary, web-based system

Qualifications:

• PTA/OTA diploma, degree in Kinesiology or a similar healthcare background
• Previous experience within an LTC setting an asset.
• A valid Vulnerable Sector screening check (within 6 months)
• Proof of Tuberculin (2-Step Mantoux Test) clearance
