Job summary

The Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a Physiotherapist to assess, diagnose and treat patients with impairments, pain or disabilities. You may work in outpatient, inpatient and community settings and will educate patients and collaborate with other health professionals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or entry level master program in Physiotherapy from an accredited university.
  • Membership with the Nova Scotia College of Physiotherapists (Provincial licensing body)
  • French language ability is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Assess, diagnose and treat patients with impairment, pain, functional limitations or disabilities.
  • Provide services in outpatient, inpatient and community settings as needed.
  • Educate patients, families and caregivers; communicate with other health disciplines.
  • Supervise and evaluate physiotherapy students and supervision of assistants; participate across Rehabilitation Services portfolio.

About The Opportunity

Reporting to the Health Services Manager, the Physiotherapist assesses, diagnoses and treats patients who present with actual or potential impairment, pain, functional limitations or disabilities. The Physiotherapist may provide service in outpatient, inpatient and community settings. The Physiotherapist educates and communicates with other health disciplines, the general public, family members and caregivers. The Physiotherapist provides supervision and evaluation of physiotherapy students and supervision of assistants. Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills are required. The successful applicant may be required to provide services anywhere within the Rehabilitation Services portfolio.

About You
  • Bachelor's degree or entry level master program in Physiotherapy from an accredited university
  • Membership with the Nova Scotia College of Physiotherapists (Provincial licensing body)
  • Computer skills (statistics input, word processing, Outlook)
  • Annual Cardio-pulmonary Resuscitation certification (BCLS)
  • Physiotherapy is a diverse profession requiring additional courses/education/training in many specialized areas or practice, e.g., cardio-respiratory techniques, acupuncture, stroke rehabilitation, manual therapy, balance training, etc
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
