Job summary

Nova Scotia Health is seeking a Physiotherapist for Rehabilitation Services at the Buchanan Memorial Community Health Centre. The role focuses on assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of patients with impairments, pain, or functional limitations in a tertiary care setting.

You will develop holistic treatment programs utilizing exercises, education, manual and hydrotherapy techniques to help patients regain optimal function and participate in the care team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or entry level master program in Physiotherapy from an accredited university.
• Membership with The Nova Scotia Regulator of Physiotherapy.
• Annual Cardio-pulmonary Resuscitation certification (BCLS).
• WHMIS training and certification.

Responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose and treat patients in a tertiary care setting.
• Develop holistic treatment programs using exercises, education, and manual, mechanical, electrical and hydrotherapy techniques.
• Supervise physiotherapy students and aides; collaborate with clinical team to achieve goals.
• Communicate with other health disciplines and families to support patient management.

About the Opportunity

The Physiotherapist reports to the Rehabilitation Services Manager and assesses, diagnoses and treats patients in a tertiary care setting who present with actual or potential impairment, pain, functional limitations or disabilities. Physiotherapy assessment involves obtaining a detailed medical history, performing specific and standardized tests and evaluation procedures to determine a physical diagnosis. Holistic treatment programs are developed using exercises, education, and manual, mechanical, electrical and hydrotherapy techniques to assist the patient in regaining and/or maintaining an optimal level of function.

The Physiotherapist is educated and communicates with other health disciplines, the general public, family members and caregivers in regard to health promotion, physiotherapy treatment and patient management. This position provides supervision and evaluation of physiotherapy students and supervision of physiotherapy assistants and aides.

As a member of a clinical team, the Physiotherapist collaborates with colleagues to determine team goals and objectives, participates in the evaluation of team effectiveness, and solves problems and shares responsibilities.

About You

• Bachelor's degree or entry level master program in Physiotherapy from an accredited university
• Membership with The Nova Scotia Regulator of Physiotherapy
• Annual Cardio-pulmonary Resuscitation certification (BCLS)
• WHMIS training and certification
• Additional courses/education/training in many specialized areas or practice, e.g. cardio-respiratory techniques, acupuncture, stroke rehabilitation, manual therapy, balance training, etc.
• Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours

• Permanent, Full-Time Position; 75 Hours Bi-weekly
• May be required to work weekends
• Travel to other sites is required and must have access to a reliable vehicle

Compensation and Benefits

$38.43 - $50.99 Hourly
