Job summary

Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a Physiotherapist for Rehabilitation Services. The role involves assessing, diagnosing and treating patients with impairments or pain across outpatient, inpatient and community settings.

You will educate teams, patients and caregivers, supervise students and assistants, and contribute to the Rehab Services portfolio. Requirements include a BSc in Physiotherapy (or MSc), provincial licensure, CPR (BCLS), and language skills with French considered an asset.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy or equivalent (or MSc in Physiotherapy).
  • Registration with the Nova Scotia College Physiotherapy Regulator.
  • Annual CPR certification (BCLS).
  • Additional courses in cardio-respiratory techniques, stroke rehab, etc.
  • French language skills are an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, diagnose and treat patients with impairment or pain.
  • Provide services in outpatient, inpatient and community settings.
  • Educate and communicate with health teams, patients and families.
  • Supervise physiotherapy students and assistants.
  • Contribute across the Rehabilitation Services portfolio.

About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Health Services Manager, the Physiotherapist assesses, diagnoses and treats patients who present with actual or potential impairment, pain, functional limitations or disabilities. The Physiotherapist may provide service in outpatient, inpatient and community settings. The Physiotherapist educates and communicates with other health disciplines, the general public, family members and caregivers. The Physiotherapist provides supervision and evaluation of physiotherapy students and supervision of assistants. Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills are required. The successful applicant may be required to provide services anywhere within the Rehabilitation Services portfolio.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Bachelor of Science or equivalent in Physiothearpy, or Master of Science in Physiotherapy
  • Membership with the Nova Scotia College Physiotherapy Regulator (Provincial licensing body)
  • Annual Cardio-pulmonary Resuscitation certification (BCLS)
  • Physiotherapy is a diverse profession requiring additional courses/education/training in many specialized areas or practice, e.g., cardio-respiratory techniques, acupuncture, stroke rehabilitation, manual therapy, balance training, etc
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours
  • Long assignment, full-time position; 75 hours biweekly
  • Approxamitely a 19-month assignment
Compensation and Benefits

$38.43 - $50.91 hourly
