Job summary

Ocean View Continuing Care Centre in Eastern Passage, Nova Scotia, is seeking a Physiotherapist to lead and deliver comprehensive physiotherapy services for long-term care residents. The role involves assessments, treatment planning, and coordinating with a multidisciplinary team to achieve best patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Masters or Bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy.
• Physiotherapy license in good standing with NS College of Physiotherapists.
• Previous experience in assessment and treatment planning in in-patient acute care, geriatrics and/or long-term care.

Responsibilities

• Perform assessments and develop treatment plans for seniors in long-term care.
• Provide supervision to PT assistants and educate residents, families, and staff.
• Lead Falls Prevention and Safe Resident Handling & Mobility initiatives in a multidisciplinary team.

Job Summary

The Physiotherapist reports to the Director of Quality and Professional Practiceand oversees the delivery of physiotherapy services to seniors living in longterm care. The physiotherapist completes assessments, develops treatment plans,collaborates with colleagues to determine care plan goals, oversees thephysiotherapy team effectiveness, and provides clinical supervision to PTassistants The physiotherapist regularly educates long term care staff,residents and family members in several areas including falls management, saferesident handling and mobility. Effective leadership in a multidisciplinary team is a requirement ofthis position as the physiotherapist co-chairs the Falls Prevention and SafeResident Handling & Mobility Committees.

Qualifications

• Masters orBachelor's degree in Physiotherapy
• PhysiotherapyLicense in Good Standing with the Nova Scotia College or Physiotherapists
• Previousexperience in assessment and treatment planning in in-patient acute care, geriatricsand/or long term care
• Thoroughknowledge of Physiotherapy practice, with an interest in continuous qualityimprovement in long term care
• Strong person-directedcare and quality focus
• Knowledgeregarding Falls Risk, Management & Assessment for those at high risk
• Demonstratedleadership abilities, planning, organization and time management skills
• Experienceproviding training/education is an asset
• Computer proficiencywith MS Office Suite especially Excel
• Demonstratedaccountability, collaboration and teamwork skills

Hours of Work

The regularhours of work for this position are intended to be 8:00 am to 4:00 pm Mondaythrough Friday. Given the scope and responsibility of the role, there may be aneed to flex hours outside this range.
