Job summary

Ocean View Continuing Care Centre is hiring a Physiotherapist (PT) for a part-time role at our Eastern Passage, Nova Scotia location. The Physio will assess residents, plan and oversee treatment, and supervise PT assistants within a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities include educating staff, residents and families on falls prevention, safe handling and mobility, and contributing to quality improvement in long-term care. The role emphasizes leadership and collaboration within our care team.

Qualifications

• Masters or Bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy.
• Physiotherapy license in good standing with the Nova Scotia College or Physiotherapists.
• Experience in assessment and treatment planning in inpatient acute care, geriatrics and/or long term care.
• Strong leadership, planning, organization and time management skills.
• Knowledge of Falls Risk, Management and Assessment for high risk residents.
• Experience providing training/education is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Oversee delivery of physiotherapy services to seniors in long-term care.
• Complete assessments and develop treatment plans for residents.
• Collaborate with colleagues to set care plan goals and oversee team effectiveness.
• Provide supervision to PT assistants and educate staff, residents and families on falls management and mobility.
• Lead within a multidisciplinary team and co-chair Falls Prevention and Safe Resident Handling committees.
